The Organ Lottery

A single heart is available for transplant. There are two perfectly matched patients. Patient A is a 60-year-old beloved community leader who has contributed greatly to society. Patient B is a 25-year-old who has a history of drug abuse but has been clean for one year and is actively turning their life around. Standard protocols show both have an equal chance of a successful surgery. As the head of the transplant committee, you have the deciding vote.
