The AI Judge
A proposal has been made to replace human judges in non-violent criminal cases with a highly advanced AI. The AI has studied every case law and statute, and its sentencing is proven to be more consistent and free of the racial, gender, and socioeconomic biases that plague human judges. It can also process cases 100 times faster, clearing court backlogs. However, the AI lacks the human capacity for empathy, mercy, or understanding the unique context of a defendant's life. Should we implement the AI judge?
